Doctor Who season 22 was the 22nd season of the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It premiered in January 1985 and consisted of 13 episodes, each of which was 45 minutes long.
The season featured Colin Baker in his first full season as the Sixth Doctor, along with Nicola Bryant as his companion, Peri Brown. It was also the first season to be produced by new showrunner John Nathan-Turner, who served as a producer on the series for the next nine years.
The season was known for its darker tone and more violent content, including the controversial cliffhanger ending of the episode "Attack of the Cybermen", which showed the Doctor attempting to strangle his companion. The season also featured appearances by classic Doctor Who villains such as the Daleks and the Master.
Despite its initially mixed reception from fans and critics, Doctor Who season 22 has since become a cult favorite among fans of the classic series.
